IPA Ireland and COVID19

IPA Ireland and COVID19

As we move deeper into this unprecedented public health emergency, IPA Section Ireland are doing what we can in this joint effort to prevent the spread of COVID19 to protect the vulnerable members of our communities, including our own membership. We have postponed all social activities and suspended new bookings in our properties in Ireland. Internationally, professional police training events and seminars have been cancelled. We will do what is necessary to protect our members, staff and volunteers.

With over 70% of our membership currently serving members of An Garda Síochána, IPA Ireland proudly support our colleagues on the frontline in this emergency, keeping people safe. Our thoughts are with our police colleagues in countries that have been hit hard by this virus.

Rest assured, that when we have prevailed, IPA will be a means for our members to again connect with police colleagues around the World, sharing experiences and doing what we do best, Servo Per Amikeco, Service through Friendship. In the meantime, lets continue to practice good hygiene, maintain social distancing, and continue to support our police, healthcare, and emergency services personnel.

Re: IPA Activities  –  Coronavirus

Hi Folks

At this point everyone is aware of the importance of adhering to the advice being issued with regard to all aspects of life, as the country deals with the threat to our health from Coronavirus.

On the 13th of March the National Executive Committee(NEC) had our regular meeting by way of Video Conferencing and decided the following actions

  1. National Council 2020 – This council was due to be convened in Dundalk on the 22nd and 23rd April .  This National Council is postponed to a suitable date in September.  The exact date will be circulated when arrangements are made with the Crown Plaza Hotel, Dundalk.
  2. All regions should adhere to the advice given on the holding of meetings and activities. NEC advises that for the duration no meetings or activities should be organised until the advice on such gatherings changes and safe to do so.
  3. Members who avail of IPA accommodation should take all precautions necessary to ensure the safety of guests and staff. Please adhere to the instructions displayed throughout the accommodation.

I and the members of the NEC wish all our members and their families good health and stay safe.

Yours in friendship
